CommunicAsia, EnterpriseIT and BroadcastAsia Reinforce the Convergence Connection as Registrations Hit Record Levels
Asia's most established global event for the ICT, Digital Multimedia and Entertainment industries serves as springboard to growth opportunities in the region

SINGAPORE, May 24, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - CommunicAsia, EnterpriseIT and BroadcastAsia - the world's leading event for the increasingly converging Digital Multimedia, Entertainment, Infocomm and Telecommunications arena - is experiencing record pre-show visitor registrations and exhibitor figures hitting close to 2,000 as the industry, its business leaders and influencers turn their attention towards opening day on 19 June.

Based once again at the highly successful downtown venues of Marina Bay Sands and nearby Suntec City, CommunicAsia, EnterpriseIT and BroadcastAsia, together, is Asia's most unique event highlighting current debate and demonstrations across the latest technology breakthroughs and applications, ranging from film, audio and TV to cloud, mobile apps and services, satellite, M2M and vertical solutions. It is a premier launch pad for many companies from around the world to showcase the latest and best technology has to offer, and is also Asia's largest and most successful event of its kind in the industry.

"International trade attendees to Singapore next month will have the unique opportunity to not only see the latest developments and debate around telecoms and broadcast, but also to see how dramatically this world is converging and what that convergence means in the home, in the office, on the move and the implications for service providers and vendors everywhere," says Mr. Rupert Owen, International Co-ordinator, Overseas Exhibition Services.

"Simply through a single registration they can move freely across both events, gathering key information at this critical time for the industry, learning all they need to know to move forward within the offerings of their own organisation. There is nowhere else on the planet where they can make just one visit and get such an appreciation of our fast-integrating environment."

The converging trend showed itself clearly in 2011, where more than 17 per cent of visitors attended both events - which also individually experienced higher visitor levels than in 2010. Mr. Owen expects those levels to increase further next month.

Apart from sheer visitor numbers and registrations, the event already has close to 300 first time exhibitors - with many of them already reflecting the aggregation of technologies in a rapidly evolving market.

A typical example is IPTV - the primary global application from the integration of broadcast and telecommunications technology. Among the leading players using CommunicAsia2012, EnterpriseIT2012 and BroadcastAsia2012 as a vital component of their marketing mix are AppearTV, Conax, Envivio, Exset, Harmonic, Huawei, KIT Digital, Irdeto, Pace, Verimatrix, Viaccess and ZTE.

Earlier this month, leading broadband analyst firm Point Topic reported that global IPTV subscriptions were approaching 60 million, with the last yearly quarter seeing the biggest three month growth increase ever.

"IPTV led the way in showing convergence in the market and as well as sheer numbers we are seeing a welcome boost in ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) for service providers. At events like CommunicAsia, EnterpriseIT and BroadcastAsia, they will be looking for new platforms to repeat that success and so will their suppliers, so I'm sure Singapore will once again be an important event for the industry," says Mr. Oliver Johnson, CEO of Point Topic.

Mr. Johnson will be giving a presentation on "Value Added Services: Broadband Driven Revenues, Who, How Much and Where", which is part of the CommunicAsia2012 Summit's Next Generation Broadband Business Models track. The topic will examine the current and project the future performance and opportunity for the VAS on offer, globally and locally, and what it could mean for operators to survive and flourish.

Cloud Broadcasting and Over The Top Technology are further examples, where the prolific growth of portable devices has created new business opportunities and has impelled broadcasters and content producers to look for means to monetise content. As the world population progresses into a digitally connected domain, broadcasters are driven to add value by customising content to specific audience interests, and communicating with viewers across various platforms. Broadcasting is no longer about just transmitting, but also about interaction between content providers and users.

A new feature area at BroadcastAsia2012 will illuminate ground-breaking OTT technologies, a must-see for industry professionals as OTT delivery promulgate in the coming years; with cloud broadcasting setting new standards in video content delivery network (video CDN). Solutions for Digital Radio, DVB-T2, File-based and Digital Media Asset Management will also be showcased. Concurrently, CommunicAsia2012 will feature a Cloud Services and Security Techzone - a dedicated area for showcasing the latest products and services related to the entire cloud spectrum, from cloud infrastructure and platform, services and applications, to cloud security.

CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia have been running together for more than 20 editions and are widely acknowledged as one of the world's leading technology showcases.
