Osaka, Japan, Oct 14, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - On October 1, Sharp (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (SCIC) began operations in Beijing.
In light of the expected continued growth of the Chinese market, Sharp has positioned SCIC as its head office in the China region, with a total of 13 companies - six manufacturing bases, five sales subsidiaries, and two R&D bases - placed under its control. SCIC will assume responsibility for all business operations and strategic planning in the China region, as well as performing related financial management functions and investment activities.
In addition, SCIC will provide shared services to support the business activities of each base (including legal, intellectual property rights management, personnel affairs, corporate public relations, brand strategy, and IT services) with the goal of improved operational efficiency. Further, to sustain the growth and evolution of the "local production for local consumption" strategy that Sharp has been pursuing, Sharp will set up business groups to cover the entire value chain - from design to development, sales, and service - and strengthen cooperation among manufacturing, sales, and R&D bases under their umbrella. As a first step, as of October 1, Sharp established the health/environmental business group.
Sharp will be developing new business under SCIC based on a locally self-sufficient production system designed to enable rapid decision-making in response to trends in the Chinese market, and will be aiming for even greater business growth in the future.
