POWER-GEN Asia: Kuala Lumpur to Host International Financial Forum on Power Generation
Increasing need for financiers to understand trends & opportunities in power generation
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 05, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Due to an increasing need for financiers to understand trends, technologies and opportunities in emerging industries like power generation, an international financial forum for the power generation industry will make its debut in Kuala Lumpur in September.
PennWell Corporation, owners and managers of the internationally renowned POWER-GEN brand, has announced the inclusion of a Financial Forum under the umbrella of the upcoming POWER-GEN Asia conference and exhibition.
POWER-GEN Asia and Renewable Energy World Asia, the region's premier conference and exhibition for all aspects of the power generation industry, will for the first time include a standalone POWER-GEN Asia Financial Forum, due to take place on the 10-11 September 2014 as part of the overall event, taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 10-12 September 2014, at the KLCC.
POWER-GEN Asia Financial Forum Conference Director, Mr. Nigel Blackaby says, "This new standalone event will enable both power industry professionals and those involved in power finance to come together to discuss and disseminate the future of the industry. It is a unique combination of key decision makers with mutual interests able to match finance with deal opportunities. Other financial events tend to involve bankers talking to bankers - and this is where the Financial Forum differs. The POWER-GEN Asia Financial Forum puts the finance community in touch with technology and opportunities that need financing. The scope will include finance of all types of power generation facilities and related infrastructure including renewables."
"This event has been established due to the financiers increasing need to understand trends, technologies and deal opportunities. We are looking to create these opportunities to learn and network among the largest gathering of Asia's power industry professionals."
This new addition to the brand follows on from the most successful POWER-GEN Asia event in its 22 year history, last year in Bangkok, Thailand, which brought together over 7,500 industry professionals from more than 70 countries worldwide alongside the co-located Renewable Energy World Asia.
The POWER-GEN Asia and Renewable Energy World Asia conference is a key forum for senior executives, industry leaders and senior engineers to discuss a range of important topics, the latest issues and solutions, in order to meet the challenge of the growing demand for electricity in the region, both conventional and alternative.
The conference programme for the POWER-GEN Asia Financial Forum will be put together by an Advisory Board, comprising of consultants and high-level professionals from the world's leading power industry and power finance organizations.
"In the short term we at PennWell aim to put together a programme containing high-quality content that will provide real value to the finance community and in the long run will establish the POWER-GEN Asia Financial Forum as the recognized annual meeting place for power industry and power finance professionals, and we are very confident in achieving this aim," says Blackaby.
Attendees to the POWER-GEN Asia Financial Forum will learn about new opportunities, developments in current deals and trends across the ASEAN region, providing a 360 degree view of the industry that will inform decisions being made by the investment community The target audience for this event will build on the traditional POWER-GEN Asia audience of engineers, developers, utilities and government representatives and looks to bring in finance experts and intermediaries including venture capitalists and expert credit agencies.
This new event follows on from the highly successful POWER-GEN International Financial Forum, which takes place annually as part of Power Generation Week within the United States, and was borne out of past, current and future challenges involving financing within the South East Asian power industry.
"Some of the many challenges include the regulatory uncertainly that frequently prevents deals being completed and the changing position of sovereign guarantees. A greater understanding of these issues will provide attendees with the knowledge to take advantage of opportunities as they arise, which is the overall aim of the POWER-GEN Asia Financial Forum," Mr. Blackaby concludes.
