POWER-GEN Asia Gears Up for Great Event
Annual gathering of power industry professionals gathers pace

KUALA LUMPUR, Sep 06, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - POWER-GEN Asia, the region's premier conference and exhibition for the power generation, transmission and distribution industries, continues to gather momentum in the build up to the 19th annual conference and exhibition this September with a packed exhibition floor and excellent, high quality conference programme.

The annual gathering of power industry professionals will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 27th to 29th September 2011 and will see a conference line up of around 130 international industry experts providing a range of presentations in both the strategic and technical elements of the industry.

Some of the highlights to the conference include:

- Country Spotlights - including spotlights and insights on a number of countries in the region, including Malaysia.

- Mega Trends in the Asian Power Market - an essential examination of some of the overarching trends influencing the region's electricity sector, which includes a panel discussion debating the key issues and challenges for the Asia power market over the next 5-10 years.

- China & India's Influence on SE Asia's Electricity Sector - a panel discussion of experts sharing their views on just how these countries influence is being felt in the energy field and the future implications.

- Large Gas Turbines - the world's biggest gas turbine manufacturers will update delegates on the latest developments in their heavy duty models, before turning to a discussion amongst these key players as they consider the current market needs for large gas turbines and compare recent technological developments.

This years conference will also see two breakout sessions specifically looking at nuclear power, consisting of panel discussions investigating 'Nuclear Power in Malaysia' and the 'Public Perception of Nuclear Power'.

Due to depleting local fossil fuel resources and the rise in global fossil energy prices, one of the main focus areas of Malaysia is in the diversification of fuel towards greater energy security.

As well as the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology & Water completing an Energy Efficiency masterplan, various initiatives are also being planned for the green technology sector, including, low carbon growth law, green buildings and cities, electric vehicles and green procurement towards making Malaysia green.

Many of these energy issues facing Malaysia and the wider region as a whole will be discussed and debated at POWER-GEN Asia amongst many of the world's leading power professionals.
