NEC Deploys SAP Solution for the Agricultural Industry in Asia
TOKYO, Aug 24, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today the deployment of "myAgri"(1), an SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) based integrated solution for the agricultural industry. Leveraging the success of myAgri in the United States and South America, NEC will introduce the solution in cooperation with Colombia's Compunet(2) throughout Southeast Asia and Greater China as an SAP solution provider for the agricultural industry.
The myAgri solution provides large and mid-size growers with integrated management for production processes in the agricultural sector including nursery management, planting, cultivation, harvesting, irrigation and fertilizer distribution. This solution also offers all of the financial, production and logistic processes provided by the SAP All-in-One solution. These processes can be adapted for a wide range of vegetation that includes fruits, cereals and plants, regardless of their variety or growing season.
NEC aims to capitalize on its track record of SAP deployment in Asia in order to provide myAgri throughout Southeast Asia and the Greater China regions. NEC also aims to leverage its specialized RFID, sensor, wireless broadband and GPS technologies with myAgri as part of providing new solutions for the agricultural industry's broad range of needs.
The global market for agricultural products is expected to grow 40% by 2030. While the scale of production and business continues to grow, a small number of experts are asked to make decisions on a wide range of issues in a timely manner.
myAgri enables agricultural data to be centrally managed and allows users to quickly access important information that is vital for business decisions. Furthermore, integration of best practices facilitates stable agricultural management without relying on subjective experiences or estimations.
"myAgri is a proven, complete and totally integrated SAP solution for the agricultural sector," said Pietro Tomassi, CEO of Compunet USA and Compunet Corporate Director. "The solution has been implemented and is in use in several agricultural companies in different countries and regions of the world, including the US, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Central America and currently also in the Philippines. myAgri customers are both large enterprises and small to medium size food and agricultural companies."
"myAgri is the only agriculture industry solution certified by SAP in the US and Latin America. Compunet, myAgri's developer and parent company, is currently expanding its presence in Europe and especially in the SEA region by working with a few well selected strategic partners such as NEC. It is very significant for us to expand myAgri into China and Asia in collaboration with NEC, one of Asia's leading companies and an important SAP partner."
myAgri provides the following benefits for business users:
1) Cost Cutting
Improved accuracy for planting, cultivation and harvesting practices, as well as greater analysis of cost origins. The solution enables reduced inventory for fertilizer, agrochemicals, fuel and other materials, in addition to reducing the overall operational costs of agricultural business by managing maintenance costs and equipment operations.
2) Greater Production Efficiency
Improved efficiency in agricultural business scenes including farms, and harvesting operations, through the automation of processes and analysis of historical data. The solution leads to improved crop yields through easy analysis of problematic patterns, implementation of business based on plans and visualization of challenges through the centralized management of data.
3) Detailed Traceability
Centralized management results in high traceability through production management for everything from seeds and nurseries to crops and finished goods. The solution is compatible with international standards (*3) and capable of managing a wide range of issues, including irrigation water, the tracing of agrochemical application, soil temperature and humidity and staff performance. Furthermore, lot management enables the source of problematic issues to be easily traced and provides the tracking of cultivation, processing and sales routes.
