Norit at the Singapore International Water Week 2010: Sustainable Cities - Clean and Affordable Water

SIWW, Singapore, Jun 28, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - From June 28 - July 2, the Suntec Exhibition Centre in Singapore will be the venue of the 2010 Singapore International Water Week (SIWW). The theme for SIWW 2010 is Sustainable Cities: Clean and Affordable Water, focusing on the need for efficient and cost effective solutions to provide safe drinking water at an affordable cost amidst a constantly changing environment. Though not naturally endowed with land or water, Singapore has been able to overcome its water challenges through a holistic and integrated approach to water management and investments in R&D and technology.

Key water projects like the Marina Barrage and Deep Tunnel Sewerage System are examples of sustainable urban water solutions that can be shared with cities and nations around the globe. With water identified as a key growth sector for Singapore's economy, the knowledge and expertise of agencies like the EDB, PUB and SWA will continue to shape Singapore into an important water hub for the Asia Pacific region and the rest of the world.

The theme of the SIWW is in line with the sustainability philosophy of Norit. New products developed by the Norit Group follow the vision of the company's Efficient Performance Technology mark of excellence, which underlines the key principle of sustainability: do more with less.

With more than 25 years of membrane experience and 40 percent market share within the world's largestwater plants, Norit established the industry-leading Research & Development capability that develops products in line with today's sustainability requirements of our customers.

Norit 2010 innovation presented at the SIWW

At the SIWW, Norit is proud to present two new membrane technology innovations, carrying the Efficient Performance Technology mark of excellence. The outcome of re-engineering the Norit Aquaflex(TM) module and system as well as the development of the Norit Airlift(TM) Membrane BioReactor (MBR) Megablock system promise to have a major impact on city planning. Cities are searching for water solutions with the highest water quality, but also with the lowest possible cost and smallest amount of space required.

Both innovations address these requirements like no other system available in the market today. In both the water and wastewater segments these new systems strengthen Norit's leading market position by offering the highest water output and quality, occupying the smallest amount of space, requiring the least amount of energy and chemicals, while achieving an overall reduction in both CAPEX and OPEX.

Norit Airlift(TM) MBR Megablock

The new Norit Airlift(TM) MBR Megablock establishes a new order of magnitude in wastewater treatment by delivering 50-100 percent more m3 output per m2 than any other MBR system in the world. It is a compact, modular and fully automated MBR system that combines biological treatment with Norit X-Flow ultrafiltration membranes and minimizes the required footprint. In addition, the membranes are placed in a dry and clean environment making them quickly accessible without comprising the health and safety of plant workers.

Norit Aquaflex(TM)

With a 75 percent performance incre'se and a record output per square meter footprint the new Norit Aquaflex(TM) system is the industry's unmatched workhorse for the treatment of drinking and wastewater well as for reuse applications. Norit X-Flow's innovative membrane technology is currently used in over 40 percent of the largest ultrafiltration plants in the world demonstrating our know-how to design, manufacture, implement, and commission water systems that push the envelope on both efficiency and performance.

Please visit Norit at the Water Convention or at the Water Expo to learn more about these industry changing technologies. Norit is proud to underline its expertise and know-how at the Water Convention with the following speakers and presentations:

- June 30, 14.00 hrs: Frans Knops from Norit will present his article "Operating Experience With Ultrafiltration For TOC Reduction Of Surface Water"

- July 1, 09.00 hrs: Harry Futselaar from Norit will present his article "Urban Water Chain Management Through A Municipal MBR"

We welcome you to join these seminars and have the opportunity to initiate technical discussions with our experts.

Norit and PUB Singapore to sign MOU (July 1, 10:45 a.m. Norit booth)

Norit and PUB will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that outlines plans for cooperation on several water technologies. The MOU explores possibilities for Norit Asia Pacific to develop a Norit Airlift(TM) Membrane BioReactor (MBR) Megablock validation plant at one of PUB's water reclamation plants. The validation plant will be the first of its kind in Asia, and only the second such system in the world.

Press and visitors are welcomed to join the signing ceremony at the Norit booth (No.D24) of the Singapore International Water week at 10:45 am, on the first of July.

Water Expo (June 29 - July 7)

Water Expo 2010 will be co-located with the World Cities Summit Expo occupying a total floor area of 15,000 m2. Visitors can look forward to viewing products, services and solutions of more than 450 participating companies from around the world.

At the Water Expo, Norit will underline its expertise by showcasing the following technologies:

- Membrane innovations: Norit Aquaflex(TM) and Norit Airlift(TM) MBR Megablock
- Norit - Expertise in Desalination Technologies: Norit X-Flow membrane pre-treatment, Norit Haffmans CO2 injection, and advanced pump technologies from Norit Nijhuis
- Point-of-Use and Point-of-Entry technologies from Norit Filtrix
- Advanced pump technology from Norit Nijhuis

You are more than welcome to personally discuss your current market demands in a relaxed atmosphere at the Norit booth, No.D24.
