BANGKOK, Sep 24, 2009 - (ACN Newswire) - POWER-GEN Asia, the region's premier conference and exhibition for the power generation and transmission and distribution industries, will play host to the power industry when it gathers for its annual event, this year being hosted at the IMPACT Exhibition & Convention Centre, Bangkok from 7th to 9th October.

With the full support from the Ministry of Energy, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, Metropolitan Electricity Authority, Provincial Electricity Authority, Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation and the Thailand Exhibition & Convention Bureau, POWER-GEN Asia is expected to receive over 6,000 industry professionals from across the region and beyond, to enjoy three days of quality conference content and leading exhibition.

The recession over this last year has seen most countries around the world reduce electricity consumption. With signs of an upturn emerging, the trend for power is for significant increases in demand and capacity, required for both the world's growing population and improving regional economies.

The Thai government is exploring new opportunities to develop efficient power production from gas, hydro, clean coal and nuclear, as well as the rapidly developing renewable energy market, in which Thailand is one of the first countries in Asia to have a policy to encourage generation of power from renewable sources.

Strengthening Energy Security for Sustained Economic Growth

The POWER-GEN Asia conference programme will present a leading line up of over 120 high quality international speakers from across the industry, discussing some of the most important issues facing the industry, economy and environment.

Following this year's conference theme, which looks at future energy security issues, a diverse range of topics will be discussed, from traditional fuel choices and technology, the development of nuclear power, to the future of green and renewable power generation, discussed in the parallel Renewable Energy World Asia conference.

Ltd.
