Seruyan, C Kalimantan, INDONESIA, Jul 08, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - PT. Rimba Raya Conservation (PT. Via a press release, Vice President of Public & Government Relations, PT. Rimba Raya Conservation, Nisa Jalil, stated that the six villages received the water filters including Ulak Batu, Palingkau, Telaga Pulang, Jahitan, Muara Dua, dan Tajung Rengas.
The distribution of the water filters to the villages is a part of the implementation of the Seruyan Regency's community villages development framework and a part of the obligation of PT. RRC as the ecosystem restoration licensee to implement the REDD+ concept (emission reduction through the degradation and deforestation).
The water filters distribution aims to improve the life quality of the people living in all of the villages in Seruyan regency, programmatically and sustainably. Thanks to the water filters, all of the nine villages' residents can now consume the clean water that is drinkable and suitable for bathing, clothes-washing, and toilet facilities. The water sourcing from the Seruyan River, which is the water source for all of the villagers, can now be filtered in advance before use.
PT. RRC has previously handed over the Community Development Funds as much as Rp. 40 millions each to the Seruyan regency's nine villages. The fund was leveraged for a number of the development purposes for each village, such as to purchase a number of computer units, to build playgroup schools, and to purchase cattle, to name a few.
Nisa Jalil explains that in near future, PT. RRC plans to develop the Villagers Development programs by initiating the Forest Plants Nurseries, Farmer Field Schools, cage culture systems business and other aquacultures.
CEO, PT. Rimba Raya Conservation, L. Djonni Andhella asserts that the water filters distribution to the six villages will be continued to be distributed to the other three villages and it is a part of the REDD+ program implementation giving a significant influence to improve the villagers life quality.
"REDD+ program implementation conducted by PT Rimba Raya Conservation must be obviously beneficial to the improvement of the livelihood of our partner villages through a number of activities such as the Forest Plants Nurseries in order to support the reforestation and replanting throughout the critical forest areas. In addition, we are also promoting the cage culture system business and otheraquaculture business that improve the life quality of all the villagers of Seruyan regency," concluded L. Djonni Andhella.
Support of the Regent
The Regent of the Seruyan regency, Sudarsono SH, strongly supports the initiative conducted by PT. RRC and hopes that it could last as long as the concession of PT. RRC in the work area for the next 60 years. "The bottom line is, if all the people of the partner villages of PT. Rimba Raya Conservation take benefits from the REDD+ program every year, it means nothing but the more benefit for them," said the Regent.
