Fujitsu Launches Three Cloud Offerings in Singapore
The offerings are part of Fujitsu's global cloud portfolio, which will be rolled out in Singapore over the next two years

SINGAPORE, Jun 10, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - Fujitsu, a leading provider of ICT-based business solutions, today announced the launch of three cloud offerings in Singapore. These offerings have been developed with Fujitsu's customers, based on a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities they face.

Cloud computing is a cornerstone of Fujitsu's strategy. Fujitsu aims to provide cloud offerings that are based upon the unique combination of Fujitsu's extensive and proven IT experience of over 75 years and its broadly agnostic approach of choosing the best partners to deliver the highest impact solutions for Fujitsu's customers. Most importantly, Fujitsu adopts a collaborative approach that ensures helping customers deliver the specific outcomes they need from their cloud programme.

With the launch of these three cloud offerings, organisations in ASEAN can look to Fujitsu to help start their cloud computing journey. To achieve the true benefits of cloud, CIOs and organisations need to draw all the options together to create a complete picture. In ASEAN, Fujitsu is already helping organisations deliver these benefits, through its most complete range of cloud-based services.

In announcing the rollout of the three key offerings for Singapore, Wong Heng Chew, President of Fujitsu Singapore comments: "We have committed US$40 million in Singapore to develop our cloud capabilities here. We strongly believe that cloud computing is not a "one size fits all" approach. In launching these offerings for the Singapore market, we based it upon our experience working with customers to determine the most optimal cloud solutions tailored to their business and technology requirements, emphasising on delivering practical solutions rather than embarking on theoretical solutions."

Fujitsu Global Platform

Fujitsu Global Platform is Fujitsu's global standard for Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and it is hosted in six locations globally - Singapore, Japan, Australia, US, Germany and United Kingdom. Combining the scale of public cloud and enterprise grade security and customisation of private cloud, Fujitsu is making it extremely easy for multinational enterprises to service their infrastructure needs locally in multiple locations.

Fujitsu SAP IaaS

Fujitsu's SAP IaaS is the first IaaS in the market developed specifically for the SAP environment. The complete service offering is designed to offer cost effective SAP infrastructure services for SAP users at the level of availability that meets their business needs. SAP users can look forward to cost savings of 30% or more, while ensuring that service levels are met for their mission critical requirements across all aspects of their SAP landscape.

Fujitsu Cloud Professional Services

Fujitsu's Cloud Professional Services aim to help organisations harness cloud with an individual roadmap to cloud adoption. In recognition that organisations are at very different stages of moving towards cloud, Fujitsu actively helps customers to explore and understand the changes and opportunities cloud brings; assess different cloud options and make informed decision. The Fujitsu Cloud Professional Services will include Cloud Feasibility Study, Cloud Inception Program, Cloud Design and Deployment, Cloud Education and Training, Cloud Expansions and Bridging Services.

Fujitsu is already working with customers such as National Institute of Education, Singapore (NIE) and SingPost by collaborating closely with them to address their specific needs and drive measurable benefits from cloud computing.

Lee Cheng Chin, Vice President of Information Systems, SingPost said, "At SingPost, security of our users' data and information remains our utmost priority. While many vendors may provide security measures, Fujitsu emphasises on working closely with us to deploy a comprehensive standard package of security measures built on Fujitsu SAP IaaS that is exclusive and specific to SingPost which ensures the integrity and safety of our data."

As for NIE, its research program is of the three major thrusts in preparing the Singapore Teacher for the 21st century. Timeliness and in-depth provisioning of IT resources are key factors driving the success of NIE's Research.

"We needed significant ICT infrastructure support for our ongoing research projects and the flexibility of Fujitsu's deployment and open infrastructure component has empowered us to deploy our resources more efficiently and scale our research projects more effectively as well. Another testament to our partnership was how Fujitsu went beyond accessing our current technological needs to recommend and strategically counsel on a deployment that will help support future expansion plans," Tan Hoon Chiang, Chief Information Officer, NIE shared.

At the same time, Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited, in partnership with Fujitsu will deliver interactive learning solutions on the Cloud.

Jeremy Foo, Senior Vice-President and General Manager of ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems) elaborates that the company's, "MyV series of applications are designed to enable primary school students and teachers to manage all aspects of individualised and cooperative learning. Fujitsu's Global Platform will enable us to scale our IT infrastructure to provide on-demand resources and help schools free up their own resources, reducing the need for additional hardware investment. At the same time, the self-service portal makes management of resources user friendly. As these applications are going to be utilised by students, security is also our utmost priority and we will work closely with Fujitsu to ensure data confidentiality and security."

Fujitsu will be rolling out a range of offerings as part of Fujitsu's global cloud portfolio in the next two years; delivering to local enterprises fully featured, high efficiency services from a global network to facilitate their expansion into the international marketplace.
