Largest World Future Energy Summit to Date Opens in Abu Dhabi Tomorrow with Attendees from over 170 countries
- Centerpiece of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, hosted by Masdar, the 7th annual WFES will be co-located with inaugural EcoWASTE exhibition and 2nd International Water Summit at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from January 20-22
ABU DHABI, UAE, Jan 19, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - The largest edition to date of the World Future Energy Summit is ready to welcome energy experts from all over the world to Abu Dhabi this week - to share best practices, unveil new products and discuss sustainable solutions to tackle present and future energy challenges.
As the centerpiece of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, WFES 2014 expects to receive 30,000 attendees from 172 countries, up from 152 countries last year.
Global decision makers and opinion formers speaking at Day One's Global Leaders' Summit include HE Eng. Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei, the UAE Minister of Energy; Rachel Kyte, Vice President for Sustainable Development at The World Bank; and Maria van der Hoeven, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency.
Around 125 speakers will address delegates during the conference programme, on topics such as waste-to-energy, natural gas and the evolving energy mix, energy efficiency, and renewables technology innovation.
Other high-level speakers at the event include Marie-Jose Nadeau, President of the World Energy Council; Saif Al Sayari, Executive Officer Energy Solutions, TAQA; Santiago Seage, CEO Abengoa Solar; and Kazuo Furukawa, Chairman of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation.
More than 900 exhibiting companies will take part in WFES, IWS and the inaugural EcoWASTE, with more than 200 new products to be unveiled at the three shows.
New and expanded exhibition features at WFES this year include the Project & Finance Village, showcasing over 20 renewable energy projects from the region and beyond; the Sustainable Living Expo, including an actual-size home and hotel suite prototype displaying energy- and water-efficient products; and the Green Careers Fair, promoting employment opportunities and providing career advice and guidance in the renewable energies and sustainability sector.
