昭和電工、世界最大記録容量1.5TBの3.5インチハードディスク出荷開始

東京, 2017年12月20日 - (JCN Newswire) - 昭和電工株式会社(社長：森川宏平)は、3.5インチサイズとして世界最大の記録容量である1枚当たり1.5-1.8テラバイト向けのハードディスクを今月より出荷開始しました。

本製品は、東芝デバイス＆ストレージ株式会社の世界初、CMR方式で記憶容量14TBを達成したニアライン向けHDD「MG07ACAシリーズ」に採用されたもので、当社が世界に先駆けて2005年に生産・販売を開始した垂直磁気記録方式の3.5 インチハードディスクでは第9世代となる製品です。

デジタルデータの記録に広く使用されているHDDでは、近年、クラウド化の進展によるデータ生成量の増加に伴い、データセンター向けの出荷が増加しています。当社は、HDDの記録容量を左右するキーパーツであるメディアにおいて、これまで世界最高クラスの製品をいち早く市場に投入してまいりました。当社は世界最大のメディア専業メーカーとして、今後も“ベスト・イン・クラス”をモットーに、HDDの高容量化に貢献してまいります。
