三菱商事、アイルランドElectroRoute社への資本参画

東京, 2016年10月14日 - (JCN Newswire) - 三菱商事株式会社（以下、当社）は、欧州で電力関連のトレーディングおよびサービス事業を展開するエレクトロルート社（ElectroRoute社；以下、ER社）に資本参画します。欧州・中東地域にて電力事業を展開する英国100%子会社のダイアモンド・ジェネレーティング・ヨーロッパ社（Diamond Generating Europe社；以下、DGE社）を通じ、ER社の株式60%を現在の同社株主から取得します。

ER社は2011年にアイルランドで設立されて以来、欧州8か国にて電力スポット・先物・国際間取引、グリーン証書取引等のトレーディング事業、および発電者や需要家に対して総合的な電力取引支援サービス事業を手掛けてきました。同社の経営陣は電力市場取引の知見が豊富であり、独立系業者として取引規模を拡大してきました。

今後、当社が有する電力分野におけるネットワークを活用しながらサービス対象地域を広げ、取引を拡大していく予定です。

昨今、環境意識の高まりから、欧州を中心に再生可能エネルギー電源の普及が進んでいます。天候等の影響を受ける電源が増加することで、電力市場における需給調整機能の重要性が高まることが予想されます。当社は、ER社への資本参画により今後拡大が見込まれる電力トレーディング事業および総合的な電力サービス事業に新規に参入し、同機能を強化して参ります。

また、ER社を通じて新たに得る知見を当社の電力事業全般に活用していくことで、価値の最大化に取り組んで参ります。
